The GLS Series puts on a great show at M-40 6-12-2009M-40 Speedway wanted a show and that’s what the GLS Super Mini Cups gave the fans, In the second heat Aaron Langlois driving the Club 131, Arena Racing Chevy Monte Carlo tried to pass Josh Sattler in turn 4 when his car became loose and flipped several times down the front stretch. Aaron’s crew worked hard and fast to get his car back into the feature to continue his chase for rookie of the year.
In the feature Todd Wilfong was leading his first race ever and he looped the #36 Chevy in front of the field, sad to say his day wasn’t wrecked but his feelings were. That left Minix to have the lead for 1 lap until the Arena Racing Champion Tim Phillips driving the #8 Budweiser Monte Carlo put a move on him and never looked back. Phillips continued to put distance on the field but Wilfong spun again trying to pass slower traffic and that left the GLS points leader Morgan Baird on Tim’s back bumper, but Phillips was to tough for the young gun.
Phillips set a track record 15.452 (87.367 mph), what a fast track. The next time we visit M-40 it will be much tougher now that they know the line Phillips said. Phillips raced here since they built the track and kept the line to himself.
The first heat was won by Phillips followed by Wilfong, Baird, Minix, Swem, Thatcher, and Hochstettler.
The Second heat was won by Dave Harrison driving the #34 Advanced Automotive Pontiac Grand Prix followed by Dustin Clark, Josh Sattler, Nick Byrne, John Dewey, Dave Wilson, Aaron Langlois.
Feature Results in order - Phillips, Baird, Minix, Wilson, Harrison, Thatcher, Swem, Dewey, Langlois, Sattler, Wilfong, Hochsetler on the lead lap. Dustin Clark and Nick Byrne did not finish.
Thank you to Randy and Corey Ellen for the great work at the track. To view the pictures of the night or to make a purchase of your favorite pictures go to Randy Ellen's Photo's

We look forward to seeing you all at Dixie Speedway on Friday night and Auto City on Saturday.
Mt. Lawn Speedway - 6-6-2009All I can say is MT LAWN SPEEDWAY. What a night! It started with being off one full second in qualifying to almost winning the fast car dash, to winning the feature by inches. They almost had to hand out two trophy’s. Jeff Girling the MT LAWN speedway champion and record holder got out front of Phillips, but never lost him in his mirrors. Girling didn’t know it, but Phillips was setting him up for the win as the laps were winding down. As the white flag flew Phillips inched on the outside but didn’t have enough so he went high in turn four and never hit the brakes and that gave Phillips enough to claim his first feature win at the tricky MT LAWN speedway. Every time I race at MT LAWN I always seem to be on Girling’s bumper but not this time. We went to win and we did Phillips said in his interview. At one point I thought there was no stopping the champ, but I found a way and it felt good to win at another track where we only visit maybe twice a year. I would like to THANKS JEFF for showing me his line.
Spartan Speedway - 5-29-2009What a night at Spartan speedway! The GLS mini cups cars put on the best show of the night according to some fans that Tim Phillips talked too after the races.
The first heat race was won by our young Jessie Thatcher driving his #28 Chevy Monte Carlo followed by Josh Sattler in the #48, Todd Wilfong driving the #36 for 3rd Aaron Langlois and Scott Swem rounding out the top 5. Our 2nd heat race saw Harrison and Phillips battling for first when Phillips spun in turn 4 allowing Morgan Baird to breath down Harrison’s neck. It was Harrison finishing 1st driving the #34 Advanced Automotive Pontiac Grand Prix with Baird, Minix, Phillips, Jenson rounding out the top five.
The features was action packed starting with Tyler Minix slaming the 4th turn wall to Scott Swem flipping his mini cup while trying to avoid another accident in front of him. As the race wound down it was Phillips showing the way until Baird slipped by the Arena Racing champion with Harrison waiting for them too make a mistake. With 3 laps to go Phillips put a move on Baird to recapture the lead as the caution flag flew putting Baird back in front of Phillips. Phillips said in his interview that he had one chance to get the lead back with 2 lap and it had to be on the outside, but he slipped up coming out of 2 and another time in turn 4 allowing Morgan to capture his 2nd feature this sesaon. rounding out the top 10 were Phillips,Harrison,Wilson, Sattler, Dewey, Jenson, Wilfong, Thatcher.
The next race will be 6/12/09 at M-40 Speedway and will be kids night so drivers don’t for get to bring your autograph cards.

Saftey FirstThe preseason practice schedule has come to end and it has found a few of the rookie drivers learning that it is important to maintain the car, don't over drive the car and stay out of the marbles.
Todd Wilfong will tell you that Spartan Speedway is a great track to run on with the tight turn coming out of turn four. This is Todd's first time ever racing a full season in any type of race car and he learned that racing can be both exciting with the lap times he has been running and dangerous after backing the car into the wall.
It is very important that all drivers in any series from Super Mini Cup racing to racing in NASCAR you need to put safety first. Todd backed the car into the wall after getting loose coming out of turn four, but he was thankful that he had a good quality seat, HANS device, and arm restraints. If you watched the NASCAR race at Talledaga on Sunday you will see how lucky Carl Edwards and a few other drivers were thanks to NASCAR making sure the cars and tracks are safe.
If you do not have a HANS device we highly reccomend that you purchase one prior to the season starting. If you would like you can contact Tim Phillips to order your HANS device.
The GLS series is a very exciting series and we will continually be looking at ways to make you car safe. Keep checking back to see what we are working on to make the cockpit safer and more comfortable for the driver.
 Tim Phillips takes home $10,000
It was an exciting Arena Racing Series Inagural season at the Delta Plex of Grand Rapids. Tim Phillips former GLS Series Champion took on some of the best drivers in west Michigan to clinch the title and to take home the $10,000 top prize.
Tim Phillips started out the Arena Racing USA Grand Rapids season out front winning the inagural race and never looked back. It was a 15 race series and Tim was in control the entire season. Even though it may have seemed easy on paper Tim has said that the racing was more competitve at the end of the season. Tim does not think that next year will look so easy. This is one of the toughest tracks to drive and the action is so close. Over the course of the season the the racing got better and the other teams started catching up. The race for second was very close with just 8 points separating 2nd through 6th. I hope that you all enjoyed the racing and if you have not heard I will be taking on a teammate in 2009/10 Arena Racing Series.
On Friday April 17th Tim invites all of the GLS Series contenders to come out to the awards banquet at English Hills Terrace 5179 West River Drive, Comstock Park, MI 49321. The cost of the tickets is $20 a per personand can be purchased at the door.If you are interested please RSVP with Peter Jackson at 616-481-7413 or email at peter@arenaracinggr.com
